When families go through divorce, children may struggle with their relationships with one or both parents. Some children might become hesitant, resistant, or even refuse to spend time with a parent. These parent-child relationship challenges can develop gradually and often stem from complex family dynamics that build up over time. In my counselling practice, I work to understand these sensitive situations and provide compassionate support to help families navigate and heal these relationships.

Collaborative Divorce Vancouver specializes in a team approach to guiding families through the challenging journey of separation and divorce using a comprehensive team approach. We provide dedicated support to both parents through Collaborative Divorce Coaching, while children receive specialized care from trained Child Specialists. This integrated approach ensures that every family member receives the support they need during this significant life transition. For families that have gone through a divorce or are currently in that process, I offer several options to provide effective and useful support.

  • I am trained as a Divorce Coach for parents.

  • I am trained as a Child Specialist. In this role, I meet with the child/children and then I connect with the parent’s Divorce Coaches to provide the most effective support to benefit the entire family during this life transition.

  • I offer counselling for children that have divorcing or divorced parents. In order to provide effective counselling support, parents must be working with Co-Parenting/Divorce Coaches or have a Parenting Coordinator (PC) working with them.

Collaborative Divorce Coaching

Fees 275 per 50 minute session

As a collaborative divorce coach, I am a licensed mental health professional that helps families navigate separation with care and expertise. I have specialized training that combines mental health support with practical guidance for:

  • Managing emotions and reducing stress during the separation process

  • Developing effective communication strategies between parents

  • Creating sustainable co-parenting plans that focus on children's needs

  • Building new family dynamics that support everyone's wellbeing

The collaborative approach differs from traditional divorce by focusing on preserving family relationships while working through separation. Coaches help parents develop practical solutions for moving forward, ensuring children's needs remain at the centre of all decisions.

As a collaborative divorce coach, I provide families with professional support to navigate this transition while building a foundation for positive future relationships.

Child Specialist/Child Counsellor

Fees 275 per 50 minute session

As a child specialist, I am a licensed mental health professional that ensures children have a voice during the separation process. Child specialists create a safe, supportive environment where children can freely express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns about the changes in their family.

A child specialist:

  • Provides children with their own trusted professional to talk to during the separation

  • Creates a comfortable space for children to share their experiences and worries

  • Helps parents understand their children's needs and perspectives

  • Works with the collaborative team to keep children's interests at the center of decisions

  • Offers expert guidance on supporting children through family transitions

Unlike traditional separation approaches where children's voices may go unheard, child specialists ensure that children's experiences and needs are understood and considered throughout the process. This helps create solutions that truly work for the whole family.
